Lake Eola Park

Lake Eola Park

We decided to take an afternoon and spend the day at Lake Eola to walk and see the swans!  The weather was perfect; granted it was hot, but there was a lot of shade, so it really wasn't bad at all.

Look at this little beauty!

Beautiful fountains and walkways!

The kids loved this one!  Just chillin' and eating some grass.

Such a gorgeous view!

Really nice way to spend an afternoon in the summer!

PSA for Get Covered America

I am sharing the following PSA on behalf of Bloggin' Mamas, who is working with Element Associates, the Ad Council and Get Covered America to raise awareness about the Health Insurance Marketplace and the financial assistance available. #GetCovered #TakeCareChat September 3rd, 2014 at 1pm EST More than half of all uninsured Americans can get covered for under $100 a month. And 4 in 5 people, who have already signed up, got help paying for their insurance. The uninsured are exposed to significant financial risk from medical issues, accidents or emergencies. Even young and healthy individuals are at-risk. One trip to the emergency room for a broken arm or a bad ear infection could cost thousands of dollars. Open enrollment is set to begin again in the fall, but special enrollment is ongoing. As with other elements of the health care law, many of those eligible for coverage don't understand all the details. While the Health Insurance Marketplaces don’t open until November 15th, certain “qualifying life events” (like getting married, having a baby, adopting a child, moving, losing your current health insurance, losing insurance when you turn 26 if you were covered under a parent’s healthcare plan, losing insurance after graduation if you were covered under your college’s healthcare plan, and more) could allow you to get covered now. For more info and resources, please refer to the Get Covered America website: http://www.getcoveredamerica.org Here's an interactive Q&A session about “qualifying life events” and healthcare enrollment led by Annette Raveneau, the National Latino Press Secretary for Enroll America’s “Get Covered America” campaign: Disclosure: I am participating in this Bloggin' Mamas Social Good Campaign and sharing a pre-written PSA in support of sharing information to the public that will help them make informed decisions. Any opinions expressed are my own and not that of Bloggin' Mamas, Element Associates, the Ad Council or Get Covered America. I was not compensated by the Ad Council or Get Covered America for this post.

When Calls the Heart DVD Review

When Calls the Heart DVD Review

For starters, let me just say how much I loved the When Calls the Heart (Canadian West Series) by Janette Oke went it first came out to print!  I couldn't put the series down and was so excited when I heard that a dvd series was being made.
I finally got the chance to watch  When Calls the Heart and couldn't have been more happy.

It take the story of Elizabeth Thatcher and her teaching career though the beginning of her life as she embarks on her life's adventures.  Family, love, and faith all play a part in Elizabeth's life and lead her down a path of exploring life in the rugged Canadian west.

I highly recommend this movie! We enjoyed it immensely!

Splash Math Review

Splash Math Review

As homeschoolers we are constantly on the lookout for cool new programs. I was super excited to get a chance to try out this online program.

Math skills are so important and something we fit in to our daily routine. This website offers so many different aspects of math; really is all around learning fun!

This is the 2nd grade program.  It's so colorful. I really like this as it adds to the fun!

It is really easy to use; not only can you read it yourself, but it reads the problem to you.  This is so important if you have a slower reader.

Check out this measurement study program!

And this time program.  So fun!

This little fun guy pops up and let's you know you got it right! Whoo Hoo!

Excellent for use of numbers!

Overall we really like using this program!  It offers so many different math elements and is an excellent addition to our school day! I can see the difference already in what our kids are remembering.  Learning is so cool when it is fun!

Be sure to check out SplashMath!!  You can register for free!! They offer grades 1-5!

*I was not financially compensated for this review. I was however given the 2nd grade program to try. Review is my opinion only.
